The Procurement systems throughout the NHS need a 'ground-up' overhaul......I think we'd see £millions, possibly £billions, suddenly become available to be directed where need is most urgent.....

Mmm. Maybe NHS fraud is over reported but it seems you don't have to be a criminal mastermind to con them.
People with minimum training seem to be given access to vast sums, with no oversight, within weeks of starting.

I tend to think NHS fraud is under reported. And agree that if they were to pull their socks up and get procurement sorted it would save millions overall.

Each area of spending should be overhauled.

From top to bottom. Including staff sickness that is used as extra holiday.

Is the sentence related to the size of the fraud? Not a bad job though, 6 years for £600,000 = £100,000 a year including full board and lodging.

Procurement is just one aspect the NHS needs to review to save money.

It's just one of the reasons I always say the NHS does not need more cash - but are then howled down by the left usually.
