Lots, especially poems (I've just recited 'the Night Mail' to check I still know it), but the one that leaps out is on the 'I before e' rule and goes 'If the sound you are seeking rhymes with bee - then it's i before e except after c'. It works apart from the 5 exceptions, one of which is 'weird', so it's very handy to know.
There is only one exception, which is 'seize'. Weir and weird are actually disyllabic so do not fall within the rule.
It does OK for kids, jackdaw. :)
