In Summer, why does milk go sour even in the cold of the fridge? I have an ozone-friendly fridge and I keep it on setting 3. Is that too low?

How odd. I was thinking just the other day how strange it is that milk never seems to go sour these days!

I buy a 6 pint bottle of semi-skiimed and it lasts a week in my fridge.

I have no idea how cold your setting 3 is - they are all different. But if your milk is turning sour it can't be cold enough.
I keep my fridge turned up to the maximum all the time and have never had any problems with milk going off. Same as Ethel, I buy the large containers of milk and it usually lasts me for over a week.

These large containers of milk should be consumed within 3 days once opened. Treat like fresh bottled milk.

may not be your fridge thats the prob! if the shop you bought it from leave it out after delivery and dont put it in cold area straight away (believe me alot do this) then milk has got warm then put in fridges on shop floor were it gets cold again, wont name supermarkets that do this cos may get in trouble! all i'll say is it aint just milk they do this with.

That's very true mousey. When I lived in Peterborough, I always noticed that milk from safeway went off much more quickly than milk from Asda, meat too.

I buy those large multi-pinter skimmed milks with the handle on.

On 9th June, there was just a bit of milk left in one I bought on 4th of June. I was just about to take a swig of it when I noticed it looked like solid yogurt.

I'll never forget the nasty surprise I had 10 years ago when I swigged from a 2-day-old carton of milk and this lumpy stuff came out. Urgh it puts you off.
