Irrelevant which channel shows it.
Leaves a BBC slot free for something more cultured.
So if the presenters and judges are changed it may be re-named "The Great British Take Off".
//I don't understand why people are saying it won't be the same with adverts. I know ads are slightly annoying, but we have them in sports programmes, soaps, everything else that's not on BBC.//

Yes Clover but you have to realise that in an hour's programme there can be 3 advert breaks (sometimes 4) of nearly 5 mins each, so the actual programme is shorter.
I might start watching it if they get rid of Mary 'I get where water can't' Berry and that scouser who has about as much personality as a fire guard IMHO.
I don understand why the BBC can't afford to keep it tbh?
A years negotiations have taken place apparently. The Beeb were outbid by Ch4, obviously.
Outbid by quite a lot, apparently. The Beeb doesn't have infinite funds and governments (of all flavours) get antsy if they actually dare to make ones that prove popular. Their preference is for more programmes about politics, and less inquisitive presenters.
A spokesman for Channel 4 said: "We would be delighted if the presenters and judges want to come to Channel 4."

Channel 4 did a great job with the cricket when they took it over from the BBC.
According to the news just now, Sue & Mel said they wouldnt be going over to Ch4 with the GBBO
Not sure why this is News ?

What possible difference can it make if the BBC loses this program...its not as if the Beeb as losing anything really essential, is it ? Its not Newsnight or Panorama !

Let other stations take on this low-brow stuff, and then the Beeb can use the money saved to make really important programs. Lose Bake off and gain more David Attenborough, for instance.
I would bet my right arm that the bake off is watched by twice as many people as panorama.

RandyMarsh...probably 3 times as many !

But thats not the point. Entertainment programs like this are best left to ITV and satellite TV channels.

The popularity of a TV program is only one measure of its worth. I still reckon this will save the Beeb £15M a year, which can be much better spent.
Zacs.....the DM got it wrong ?

No, surely not !
mmm.
