The words convey the heartfelt hope of young people who have suffered for years as a result of civil strife. Their only desire is to live a normal life. But converting hope into reality is no easy task. Will we ever live to see a world without war?

Ultimately, then, it is hatred and greed rather than bullets and rifles that fuel the flames of war. Covetousness, or greediness, is a fundamental cause of war, and hatred frequently leads to violence.

To uproot these destructive feelings, people need to change the way they think. They need to be educated in the ways of peace. Thus, the ancient prophet Isaiah realistically states that war will cease only when people ‘do not learn war anymore.’—Isaiah 2:4.

However, at present we live in a world that teaches adults and children, not the value of peace, but the glory of war. Sadly, even children are being trained to kill.

The prophet Isaiah also stated that there is a direct relationship between divine education and peace. He foretold: “All your sons will be persons taught by Jehovah, and the peace of your sons will be abundant.” (Isaiah 54:13) The same prophet foresaw a time when people of all nations would stream to the pure worship of Jehovah God to learn of his ways. With what result? “They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.”—Isaiah 2:2-4.

In harmony with that prophecy, Jehovah’s Witnesses are engaged in a worldwide educational work that has already helped millions to overcome the hatred that is at the root of man’s wars.

Will you quote your source please? Printed in the watchtower is not sufficient evidence.
Jackdaw; I wasn't quoting Virgil, I was quoting Enoch Powell.

goodlife; //Jehovah’s Witnesses are engaged in a worldwide educational work that has already helped millions to overcome the hatred that is at the root of man’s wars.//

Well, at least you can't be accused of not trying. More power to your elbows!
Khandro, //More power to your elbows!//

Do give over. The only education Goodlife is interested in is the cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses!
N. I wonder what you have been doing in that direction. I read recently an account of three elderly lady JWs beaten to death in Birkenwald for saying Hitler was the antichrist
Khandro, I used to work at the BBC and was a radio news studio in 1968 when Enoch's original speech was being edited for broadcast.
Khandro, // I wonder what you have been doing in that direction. //

Wonder on.

//I read recently an account of three elderly lady JWs beaten to death in Birkenwald for saying Hitler was the antichrist //

Why are you telling me that?
n. //Why are you telling me that?//
Can you imagine the courage and conviction of elderly Jehovah's Witness ladies to call Hitler an "antichrist" in Buchenwald women's concentration camp? (within my lifetime).
All you can do is spread your boring negativity to anything you demean as being "religious".
I'm sorry but you don't know ***.
The expletive deleted began with s and ended with t.
Khandro, //I'm sorry but you don't know ***. //

I'd like to say that since I read your ramblings on a regular basis I am well acquainted with that substance. However, I'm far too polite to go down that path. ;o)
n. I was a bit sharp, sorry.
Khandro, a bit sharp! I didn't have the foggiest idea what you were talking about - but thanks for the apology.
