Well, the studio audience seemed to like it. They can be heard laughing in the background. Although, how they got a studio audience into a car park, I can't imagine! Yes, viv41, it was obviously scripted. A real policeman wouldn't behave like that! Would he?

It is typical of basic German humour that it had to be spelt out to the opening of the other car's door to demonstrate absolutely what had happened. To the more sophisticated Brits, it would have been enough to simply see the other car after the van pulled out.
