I dont hink so, but you will need photo ID, check with the airline for peace of mind.
You need a formal photo ID, so countries like France etc who have a national ID card are OK.

I have to say in this day of high security checks at airports you are far better having a passport and then there is no argument.

With anything less than a passport you always face the risk of being turned away.
