try the Tropicana, its down the other end of the strip but still l.inked by the walkway, near enough to the MGM to use the monorail and all the buses stop there, popular with Americans but not used by Brits. we go there for the buffet breakfast sometimes, if you have late breakfast there, they change the food over to lunch half way through and you get the best of both.
have a great time.
the imperial palace...right in the middle of the strip . Nothing fancy about the rooms. Good restaurants. Has the car museum in it. & the ledgends concert. The one the Dusty one on ONE & ONLY is going to.
I have stayed at Circus circus It at the end of the stripa was not expensive ..We loved it free circus shows for the kids laods od shops places to eat and a theme park
I stayed at the Imperial Palace in Sept 2007 and it was excellent. I would definitely stay there again. The other hotels mentioned are at each end of the Strip.

Try to get a room in the main building rather than the ones at the back - long walk otherwise. It is in a very central position on the Strip right opposite Caesars Palace & next door to the Flamingo and is a reasonable price as it is one of the older hotels.

It has a good swimming pool area - have a look at the website.

We stayed at Excalibur and loved it. Ok so it's built in the shape of King Arthur's castle but it's one of the cheapest, other parts of the strip are easily accessible and it's got other hotels nearby.
pls dont stay at Circus Circus unless you are taking kids along, I have stayed at The New York ,New York, the Luxor, The Excalibur, MGM and the Stratosphere and all up to very good standards but when we stayed at Circus Circus it was the pits, room not clean, hairdryer didnt work, room safe didnt work etc etc, and every time a worker comes to fix something they expect a tip ! carpets worn and dirty in hall ways, even reception is grotty compaired to the other hotels.
Maybe the Riveria hotel after all Sinatra always stayed there.
I would have to agree with Dee Sa. Circus Circus is quite a way from the main strip and there was a lot of dust from building work nearby. It looks quite dated nowadays compared to the main hotels on the strip.
