The AA are the first to shout that motorists are being ripped off for fuel prices, but they don't brag about how they keep trying to add extra cover on ones breakdown cover when its time to renew. I have ( roadside & relay) I do not require anything else, yet this is the second time they have added the so called( stay mobile at £5 per month) that's just useless), so yet again I have to spend another 15/20 mins on the phone to get it taken off, you can't email them, or wright to them, they will just keep you waiting on the phone for ever hoping you will give up.
What gives these people the right to keep adding extra cost to your cover, that you've not requested? I refuse to help pay for the millions of pounds they spend on TV adds.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I filled out a form for a quote and they stalked us by phone, email and post...for months on end.

You have to have someone ummmm and the other crowd RAC are just as bad, it makes my blood boil.
AA was so bad though. They'd phone 3 to 4 times a day and phoning my partner at work!! He asked them to stop but they didn't.
My wife and I are full members of the AA through our joint bank account. Excellent service. We had used them quite a lot in the past and have never failed to satisfy.Now we both drive Skodas we don't appear to use them so often but they came out very quickly ( 20 mins) to change a punctured tyre on my wife's car in our hospital car park two months ago.
I'm not knocking their service just the fact they ask for details when you want a quote....and then hound you.

I've been with the AA for years, Home Start and Roadside Recovery,
never had any problems with them at all. I guess is you come across as needy you are treated as such.
I have never been hounded by the AA as I automatically get full membership via my Platinum Bank account. Way to go.:-)

If you ask for an on-line quote you will usually get follow up calls from any company whereby you provide all your details first. That includes Go Compare,Compare the Market et al, especially if you don't reply to their quote.
I blocked my AA direct debit when cost was raised. They soon dropped extra charges & I rescinded the block. My charge has remained same for 10+y
Nope...never happened before or since. A few emails maybe but that's about it.

Needy though! How can you be needy filling in an online form?
They might be playing the 'last word' game.

Some folk can't resist it.
I've been with the AA for many years and have many times been impressed with the service. They have several times gone above and beyond what they are contracted to do so I'm impressed, both me and err indoors are members. It's a bit unfair lumping the insurance arm in with the breakdown service.

With respect, I think some of you are missing the point. What gives them the right to load up your cover with items I've not requested, need or want, and then just say they will take the money from my account. That's a bit like the manager of a shop putting goods in your basket, and telling you to pay for them at the checkout. There seems to me that there's to much of this going on with all sorts of companies one deals with.
I'm with Green Flag. Got a deal with them through Churchill last year, renewal coming up so can't say what the charge is this year, but their service is good and very quick.

I've never ever seen a green flag service van on the road, I can only assume that its a call centre and they just get in touch with any garage that's in the area you are in. In saying that the AA and RAC have reduced their vans to the point of having to wait hours for help, this was pointed out on watch dog a few weeks ago.
Is that their whole fleet for the UK ?... no wonder you never see one on the road.
alavhalf, they would need a bigger car park than that to accommodate over 200 vehicles.
