We have quite thick snow in Bucks. All the schools are shut. It was promised on Tuesday, but was just a light covering, so we were owed a snow day :-)

Jackdaw33 maybe a Scottish expression - have always said Batic.
We've had a heavy hailstorm, here in Stockton, about 03:00 and it's laid, and it sounds like it's having another go now. The River Tees has frozen and all the birds are standing on the ice, rather than bobbing up and down on it. No snow though.
From Chambers, 'Baltic...extremely cold (informal)'. I've heard it often - in England as well as in Scotland.
I just say perishing.
It's 3 deg here in Plymouth...and -12 in N.Y. where my brother lives.
TBH, what's happening here seems trivial compared to the American mid West.
Spoke too soon... Just ridden home (From work) through a proper downfall of Snow. Not too bad on the cycle lanes, but a bit treacherous in the local Park. Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow!
It's a bit nippy here and we have snow again but I've just looked at my diary and realised I`m going to Chicago on Tuesday. Think things will be better there by then.

Are you staying for a few days or is it a fly in one day and fly out the next?

Chicago always looks nice in pictures.
It's a balmy +2 c in North West Kent, although still snowing.
Winnipeg is - 15 c , which is quite warm considering it was between -25 c and - 35 c on Wednesday - brrrr !
