booked two flights (people) with MONARCH airlines, but only paid for 1 x 20kg hold luggage, my email confirmation is unclear........... it says 1 passenger x 10kg total hand luggage only, passenger 2 = 20kg TOTAL... surely it is 20kg hold PLUS 10kg hand luggage for passenger 2, Thank you to anyone who can clarify 100%.

lol, yep me too.
I haven't known an airline to allow 10kg per person hand luggage, and it cannot usually exceed a certain size
Monarch allow 10kg. I flew with them in May.
It looks like if you've put your bag in the hold you can't take on hand luggage. If you're only taking on hand luggage the max is 10kg. So passenger 1 has used up their allowance by putting their bag in the hold.

That's how I'm reading it.
I have been known to take something this sort of size on a flight Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation these days I tend to take a medium sized rucksack with me. Check what you have paid for. I nearly took a cheap 2 week holiday last year, only to find I could take hand luggage only. No way Pedro! I need room for shoes! so I went with a different agent. Lubbly jubbly

so im assuming it can to be 20kg that can be checked in (paid 21 pounds) 1 way, PLUS an additional 10kg hand for 1 of us and the other JUST 10kg hand luggage. thank you.

lol now im really confused .........
really confused? I'm always confused!
if its same as ryanair if you book a case in the hold you can still have 10kg hand luggage too
Well it says...

Passenger 1 - 10kg total hand luggage only.
Passenger 2 - 20kg TOTAL

From that I would assume they can't take on another 10kg.
way i read it on the link always confused posted is you get 20kg in hold and 5 kg hand luggage
Question Author
who knows maybe ive paid 21 pounds then for only xtra 10kg, got till december to found out for sure. ive emailed monarch direct i'll just see if i get a reply lol.
I'll check my booking, we fly with Monarch next month....
Question Author
ooh tezmand, maybe she gets 20 plus 5, and i get 10 ...... i may stick with ryanair in future strict yes but clear gggrrrr lol
I'd suggest it means a 20kg hold bag for one of you and a total of 10kg hand baggage between you both
I've just checked my booking and am more confused - it says our baggage allowance in the hold is 23kg.....
The Monarch site says hand baggage is by volume (see bag sizes) but can't weigh more than 10kg per person in total - so you can take a lighter bag as well as your handbag, by the look of it, as long as the total weight pp is less than 10kg
http://www.monarch.co.uk/faq/flights/baggage/hold-checked-in-baggage-charges-scheduled
^ PS just noticed that that's only for flight numbers starting ZB (which ours isn't)
You are allowed 5kg of hand luggage each, which is your 10kg hand luggage, plus the suitcase at 20kg.
