Phoned the surgery yesterday to enquire about the third Covid Booster - jabbed this afternoon (the bivalent version) and got a "whilst you're here" flu jab too.

Then mentioned that (after a few months with no problems) my lower back was giving me some serious gyp this week - quick assessment and instant referral for an MRI - should be done within a week or so ...

... what a pity that some on here believe we live in such a backward country ...

What a pity not everyone has the same experience as you, sunny-dave. We are fortunate having an excellent GP and surgery nurses but we still face waiting lists with consultants.
I know some people that struggle to see a GP.
Did you get one in each arm to keep you level? I think 2 in the same arm makes one lop-sided.

Nice on the speedy MRI, hope you get an answer and treatment xx
I called down to Radiology the other day to see if I could change my MRI appointment and she said, "Come down now if you like."

I did.

Less than 24 hours later my GP was ringing me on my mobile with the results and she referred me to the Neurosurgeons the same day.

No complaints from me.
You don't know how thrilled I am that Dave is going to this particular hospital for an MRI. It's just along the road from the most fabulous wool and fabric shop. :-)
I'm glad to hear that you can get jags in Ireland too. Much better than the jabs that others have been getting.

I hope that you get your back sorted, mine is sore too so I can empathise with you.

I'm getting my two jags in a couple of weeks.
I prescribe Guinness.

It's good for you apparently.
Off to the Holy Well now, Hoppy. Friends have pints in for us. Slainte. X
All the best medicines taste horrible.
Don't think that many on this site believe we live 'in such a backward country'. Very pleased that you have had a positive experience with the NHS. But I think you might find that others don't have the same experience. I'm sure you can appreciate that.
They live in Ireland
she referred me to the Neurosurgeons the same day.
oo-er Mrs, sounds serious
When I lived in the UK, Paigntonian, I never thought it was a backward country. Now....well I'm not so sure, sadly.
When you visit, Hoppy I'll train those taste buds of yours. x
Not backward so much as taking a wee break to catch breath and re-evaluate.

We pretty much have what we need when required.

One day I hope to have Guinness in Ireland to taste the difference and find out if it's true. :-)
I really hope it's a wee break, Douglas. There was so much good in the UK when I lived there. I hope it settles and returns.

As for Guinness. It's better in Ireland than anywhere else. But even in our village it differs. The pint tonight wasn't as good as the pint in the pub that's closing next month.
Landlady told us to call in for a free drink before they close as we are such good customers. Not quite sure if that's a compliment or not. ;-)
Disc bulge in the C-spine, Pete. Causing neurological symptoms down my left arm.
>>> You don't know how thrilled I am that Dave is going to this particular hospital for an MRI

Dave is probably just pleased that he's going for an MRI. With loads of noise, headphones clamped over his ears and nobody else allowed in the room, there's a reasonable chance that he might not get nagged for a while ;-)
Nagging, Chris? Me! Now come on, you know I'm as quiet as a church mouse. :-)
Best pint of Guinness I have ever had was in a pub within a mental institution in Surrey.
You're mistaken. We're not a backward country. Ask the other 199 nations in the world. Sorry you have a bad back but you're not in Somalia, The Yemen, Iraq or North Korea. Get some perspective for goodness sake.
