He was a turk.
There was no such country as Turkey when St George was born: he was indeed Greek (Cappadocian) . In those days what is now modern Turkey - essentially Thrace and Anatolia - wasn’t particularly Turkic.
he was actually roman so who really knows.
He was a subject of the Ronan empire of course as were a huge proportion of Europeans at that time but Capoadocian Greek does appear to be his ethnic background.
And his name is Greek.
