Mt new Fiesta has a built-in SatNav, as part of the radio, but compared with my Garmin, its a load of pants. I can set a postcode into my Garmin in about 10 seconds, but the Ford version in the car takes at least 5 mins, running through sub-menus.
I would repeat my advice to try before you buy. The various maufacturers have their own idea of the best screen layout/menu system etc and some will suit you more than others. For example, I just don't get on with Garmin but I like TomTom. Mikey is clearly over the moon with his Garmin. You can only find out by trying them in a shop, then buy the right one.
bhg; Thanks for the tip, I've got a birthday coming up, so I'll start dropping hints :0)
Can I recommend a website worth looking at for all GPS users:

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/

bhg; That's a pretty complicated website, what's the bottom line in relation to the OP?
There is a "reviews" tab plus useful downloads for all users of sat-navs.
Incidentally, ours is also called Gladys.
Mine is called Bossy Cow, and her pronunciation of Welsh place names is ruddy atrocious.
ZM – in using my satnav, the police would have to prove that I was distracted in using the device; whereas the police would only have to prove that those using the smart phone app had done so.
