Why do people want the poster to name the paper or quiz .To do this might entail giving the the place where the person lives which they do not have to disclose when joining Answerbank .If the person has no problem with it like my self okay .like mount intended is torment any where in the world with out saying which paper you are doing the crossword in .

I fail to see how naming a newspaper is an indication of where a person lives.
in order to be more helpful?
Crossword setters, in particular, have their own style; knowing the source of the crossword can help to untangle the clues. Most come from national sources eg Daily Telegraph but may be from local papers, which may give an indication of the area in which the Poster lives.

What I mean is say sidcup chronical somebody in Perth is unlikely to be doing it are they .
Usually the poster only posts Local paper, not the locality.
Question Author
Yeah local covers it and is used often .No harm in mentioning national papers .
''sidcup chronical''

Ok, so now you know they live 'somewhere' in that vicinity. And?
You may already have the publication so it's easier to help if you have it in front of you.

The poster may have got something wrong which you may pick up on if you have done it yourself,
Weecalf....not sure I understand your point here at all.

If the name of the newspaper and puzzle is given up front, it will attract the attentions of people who perhaps have done the particular puzzle.

Weecalf, it's not just 'People' who want it, AB kind of likes it as well.

Is the Sidcup newspaper about people who are ill?
Dammit, weecalf, you've exposed the puzzlers' secret mission.
You're really excelling in blue sky thinking of late, weecalf.
Of late?
I live in Stoke, if I mention the local paper - The Sentinel' - does that narrow down my location in a city with excess of 250,000 people in it?

I doubt it!!!

Has anyone got the Pluto outlook who house is this solved yet
You also mention quizzes in your OP - a few reasons why it's nice to know both the origin and the close date.

Details enable others to send for it thereby raising more money for a Charity and a long close date means there might (ah well usually there isn't) less urgency to fill in all the answers for the OP.

A quiz is unlikely to pinpoint your location and get the 'AB Heavies' sent round as most of us do quizzes from all across the Country.
Has anyone got the Pluto outlook

No but I'm lucky enough to be shielded by Saturn the planet of luck and opportunity
I'm a Capricorn too
