Around 3 weeks ago I was doing a bit of browsing and discovered it was possible to get a reduction in Council Tax if disabled, I filled in the on-line application form as my my wife is disabled explaining the conversions I have had done for a wheelchair user at our expense .
Yesterday a lady turned up from the council and said YES we were entitled and she would back date it 3 years.Discount is about 25%.
If I hadn't been bored I might never have discovered this.

that should come in handy, just in time for christmas.
Well done dennis, a few quid coming back to you . ps, mines a pint lol.
Well done, dennis, anything off any bills are to be admired, especially with the back dated bit. Will they send a refund? Or, maybe just not charge you & your good lady for next year? I'd hazard a guess that they'll probably run it against your next year bill - with the correct adjustments (of course)!
Wow!

Too true SM, I just wonder how many more people are entitled but don't realise it.
Very true dennis, I had never heard of it until I read your post.
I didn't find out until after OH died. We had a person allocated to us by the hospital to help us with things like this. Flipping useless! When you have always worked and taken care of yourself you can be a bit green about help available when life goes boobs up.
Glad you found out Dennis.....both of you enjoy a treat with some of it. x
Sorry to go of topic dennis.
Hows mom today, gness ?
Alzheimers is 100 % reduction if single, 25% reduction of someone else is living in the house.
Hi Tony. Brother doing today's visit. All blood tests clear so awaiting another psychiatric visit. Still refusing food and drinking very little. Curled in middle of bed and becoming more confused. Just keeps asking me to send her to God. Sad and no-one should end their days like this.
Yes very sad indeed, gness. Much love tony xxx.
Thank you Tony. x

UPDATE...
Annual council tax reduced by £166 per year, approx 16.6%. They have taken off the next 3 payments and credited my bank account to the tune of £255,I'm well pleased.
Dee Sa.....Not sure if wheelchair is a must, but it did seem to confirm claim when she realised we had one upstairs and another downstairs.
