Does anyone know if PayPal is down ?
I've ordered things on line today from two different sources and I usually get an email straight away to confirm my purchase but I've had nothing .
The transactions went through according to my account .

And now hija is on the final leg of her journey, mind you it's a 4hr leg, she's just taken off from Istambul. So that's another night I won't sleep until I hear from her about 1am.

Hope you have all had a nice day, very hot here again!
well, it hit 18 degrees today, very Mediterranean, but we didn't have people drowning in the high street unlike those poor people in the south of France. It looks as if it will now start raining here for days, though. The electric blanket is still on the bed; I had it on all night but only turned up to 3. When deepest midwinter comes it will have to be turned up to 11.

It only hovered around 16c here, bit chilly.
Those floods in France are awful. We've had bad flooding in the area at times but nothing as horrendous as that.
Btw Jno ..BONG BING. Lucy has a new series which starts on Thursday on BBC4. She'll be wagging her finger and fluttering her fan.

My internet is speeding along at a rate of knots.I've discovered that the router thing is up the swanny, which is why it kept bombing , so have disconnected it and ordered a new one. I'm getting nearly as clever as Neti.I'll be taking selfies soon:)
Night all.

Its definitely cooler here, quite nice. In other news, suddenly my nails have started to split vertically, 3 have done it today. I have clipped them short and then filed the split smooth but all advice gratefully received.

Nothing life threatening Woofy .Age related mostly and dry nails . Do you use plenty of cream on your hands and nails on a regular basis and wear rubber gloves for "serious" housework?
Rub Vaseline into your nails every day or try soaking them in almond oil a couple of times a week.Don't use nail hardeners or anything with formaldehyde.
Good morning.
Woofy my nails have always split like that, so annoying especially when the split is low.
The Hija has landed in Dubai at 1am, which meant that after texting each other, I just couldn't sleep.it was so hot here. Mr N went into spare room. Starting an autumn clean now as all visitors have now gone.
I feel better now Hija is home.
right, negotiated a cut in our health insurance - I'm ot sure how since we do it througha broker and it appears to be them, rather than Axa, who did a deal. I didn't think that was what brokers were for. Anyway, no awaiting a call from the travela gent to reduce the cost of a planned winter holiday.

I remember the days when people automatically offered you the best deal, to keep you loyal. Now it's all phone calls to bargain on everything. When did the UK become a Turkish bazaar?
humph, my space bar seems to have acquired a mind of its own.
thank you, yes I do use hand cream (and nail cream) I do use gloves on the rare occasions that I do "serious housework"!!
I guess its just age.....
I hate loathe and despise the having to barter thing. Such a waste of time. Bupa have twice written to me to say that I am paying too much and the second time they sent me a hefty refund because they hadn't realised earlier. That's the sort of service I want. The people who service my car list their prices online. I had to phone the RAC and dicker this year because I hadn't got enough tesco coupons to pay. If they hadn't been the best option I would have dumped them
Good moaning...good it ain't, it's dark and very very wet. Yesterday was glorious in the sun, bit cool in the shade.
Good to know your daughter arrived safely neti.

I think my nails are the only part of me with any strength. My bad knee gave way in the kitchen earlier. Good thing I crashed into the door or it could have been the floor. Probably the lesser of two evils. Tut.

Hopefully, weather permitting, it's hedge cutting day tomorrow...what with that and the home improvements I'll be negotiating the price of plastic bags before long.

Hello all
My computer has developed a mind of it's own .I had huge text this morning for some reason and couldn't get rid of it but it seems ok again now .The text on here was miniscule but I've zoomed it up a bit and it's ok now .
I loathe all that bartering too and I won't tell you what Mr S says about it all :)
Funnily enough we've just had the house insurance renewal this morning, more bartering .
'Tis a dreary cuppa soup day ..
Oh hello shaney :) I'm hopeless at all things techie. I almost had a meltdown last week when we had to pull all the plugs out of the big puta to move it. Luckily sis knew where to put them all back.
I think the German language has got much better swearing that English. We have got rain here, more rain, and the risk of torrential downpours. I was going to do carpet shampooing today but no point as it won't dry...well that's my excuse....

I've just realised I can't use the printer since I disconnected the router thingy so have had to plug it back in and out again. Can't use my tablet either. That'll teach me to try and be clever.
Good job it's only two plugs to grapple with.More than two and I'd be totally confused:) I'll think I'll leave connecting up the new one for a child to do .
before moving plugged in stuff, I take photos of where everything goes.
We also photo the back of all things with plugs Woofy.
Lovely rather hot day here ,house clean and tidy but not deep cleaned yet as too warm. Face is playing up like Billyho.
Question Author
What a good idea Woofy ..why didn't I think of that .
I write things down then can't understand my own scribble :)

just don't hold the photo upside down by mistake or it'll all end in tears.
its funny you should say that Jno, I did the same trick when i had to life a manhole cover in my garden. Is one of those like a tray that you can lay block paving in to make it vanish. I photographed it and then carefully removed all the block, laying them in some sort of order around the manhole cover. had the devil of a job putting them back in until I realised.....
