When you get an invite to join Facebook as a 'friend', does the person know whether or not you join, as I have had two requests this week and don't know whether to or not. What I mean is are they sort of automated, i.e. do they just invite everyone in their contacts list, or have they picked me out specially (goes all shy lol). Will they be offended if I don't join?

Take care when you are on Facebook a lady near me was killed by a nutter she met on there
there are some very weird people on FB....I've turned down several dodgy people asking to be my friends....
craft... I won't ask again...
nor me.. sorry about that.
lol.........if only
Many people just request everyone and anyone in a bid to have as many friends as possible.

However, as Craft said, there are some dodgy people out there.

For anyone who is on FB, I received this message from two separate friends!!!!!

....**ATTENTION!!!*** Do not accept a friend request from a CHRISTOPHER BUTTERFIELD and JENNIFER CHRISTINA SMITH they are hackers. Tell every 1 on your list because if somebody on your list adds him, he'll be on your list too. He'll figure out ur computer's ID and address, so copy & paste this message to everyone even if u don't care for them cause if he hacks them, he hacks you!

craft... will you be my Facebook friend?

Lots of love... Christopher Butterfield xxx

That is a hoax, it is on snopes.

The two people who have invited me are people I know, one quite well but the other is a more formal acquaintance, and I really can't be bothered with it. Just didn't want them to be offended that I hadn't taken up their offer.
oh go on then Christopher.......perhaps you would be kind enough as to tell me which 'group' you belong to....

you are talking about a site and concept that couldn't be any weirder.

the very fact you are having these doubts shows that - how can you have a "friend" you don't know or trust?

remember last time you went into town ... the guy who was asking everyone to be his friend .... did you say yes then?

anyone who publishes their personal details on the Internet deserves everything they get

Thats its then. By the way, the guy in town asking everyone to be his friend, that was me.
