What programs can I download that are like Microsoft outlook, but free. (It can't be a trial), and it must work with the browser flock, or with no browser's.

I want to do it so when I get an email, it pops up on my Taskbar to let me know I got one.

Thunderbird will do that.

Ideally you will also install the "Minimize to Tray Enhancer add-on". That will allow you to have Thunderbird automatically start with Windows, and minimize rather than closing (obviously, if it's closed, it can't collect e-mails - so can't notify you when they arrive!)
