I've always wondered with curling, does the brushing rough up the ice so the stone slows down or smooth it so it goes faster? or some thing entirely different?

also how come these olympics are going on so long?

it smooths it they also use it to "curl" the stone more than it otherwise would.

how TTT? Do they brush on the side they dont want it to go? does that melt the ice or rough it so it doesnt go there?

I can't open that link but I always assumed it was to make it curl more but I seen a video a while ago and it's the opposite.

The video also said there was disagreement as to the mechanics making the stone culr on the ice.

There's videos on YouTube showing how the ice is prepared and it's not as simple as flooding a space with water and letting it freeze, there's a fine art to it.

Curling fascinates me. And also makes me anxious.

I'm sure if you were to take it up and practised enough, you would become better at it.

Even at the Olympics, the different rinks did not play the same and some would curl more than others and the experts made mistakes.
