I preferred Strictly when non-dancers went on a "journey" and learned and progressed, like Darren Gough. Now the show focuses on beautiful young contestants. Trained dancer Danny Mac is already good enough to be a pro. Louise has danced for ages as a pop star. They focus on Laura Whitmore too as she is pretty. Wrong emphasis now, don't ha think?

I think it's always been the same.
They've got Ed Balls on this year. The equivalent of previous years' Ann Widdecombe or John Sargeant.
There has always been good dancers on too, hasn't there?

I don't usually watch it. OH watches, and I hear the overspill from his headphones.
I quite enjoyed watching the first hour last night and then realised there was another hour to go. Toooo looonnngg. We could watch a film in that time.
Don't agree, stage school dancing isn't the same as ballroom and latin and neither is Louise's pop star prancing about! I like the 'beautiful young contestants'.
I'm with you Vernonk. I enjoyed the first few series but I haven't watched it for ages now. It is far too polished and competitive now, and too many of the contestants can move far too well for my liking!

I think it was Len Goodman who said to Ed Balls "you're what Strictly is all about". But he's not anymore. The judges, esp Craig, *** him and give him low marks. Yet he's trying his heart out and is actually pretty good. Maybe his politics are not to their taste, but that should be irrelevant

What is the point of a contest that pitches Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp against Ed Balls and Lesley Joseph? They should be on different programmes
Remember Series 2 when we had trained dancer Jill Halfpenny pitched against Esther Rantzen, Quentin Wilson, Julian Clary and Diarmud Gavin none of whom could dance.
I think some people take it too seriously. Surely some of the contestants know they don't stand a chance. The programme is there as entertainment and to make money foor Children in Need, isn't it?
The celebrities obviously have weeks of dance training before they are paired with their professional partners, probably paying themselves because they don't want to look complete wallies.
I still cringe at the thought of Christopher Parker's Paso Doble
I prefer Strictly to have an assortment of talent - even if some of the contestants possess very dubious talent. When the London Marathon was first televised the concentration was on the fun runners - and it was fun! Now it concentrates on the serious runners, so for me it's no longer entertaining and I don't bother to watch. Strictly is entertaining.
it is the best programme on tv at moment, its a breath of fresh air after all the other reality shows. there are some that have dance experience but it doesnt matter, it is afterall an entertainment show!
I dont think votes are for best dancers or highest marks. I will continue viewing till my fav are voted out; naga (who seems bored), lesley (who wants publicity), Tameka (eastender) & Judge Rinder.
I see you totally ignored my comment about stage school dancing and 'pop' dancing NOT being the same as latin and ballroom Vernon?!
Tonights elimination show was a complete farce
I just love the entertainment, the lovely costumes, the dances, the fun of some comedy ones, it's just pure happiness for me, I don't care whether they are good dancers already or not, I just sit back and enjoy.
I just loved Louise Redknapp's dress. So 1920's but wonderful. Lesley Joseph has a great pair of pins for an 'older' girl.
I thought with Anastasia not being able to do the dance off they would be eliminated. Seemed unfair on the other couple. Not their fault they couldn't do the dance off.
We love the dancing, the music, the beautiful dresses etc. but cant stand Tess Daily - and why does she criticise the judges comments? Its not her place! To compensate - We record it and whizz through the bits we don't want to watch!
We do the same, Mata Hari. I say "we", I don't really watch it. OH does. :) I thought it unfair that Anastasia got through despite not being fit for the dance-off.
Will she be fit for further rounds? Sounds like a horrible injury.
mata hati, sorry I got your name wrong.
yeah and ed balls
he used to dance around the economic stats on the floor of the house of commons

I liked his charleston and the beeb were snotty about his practising for 8 hrs a day to achieve it
