Less than an hour to go. Battle line are drawn in this household. I have had a punt on England 11-15 points and Vunipola, Haskell, or Robshaw first try. Should be a cracking game.

I think that it wouldn't go amiss to mention the Ladies,Gentlemen,Girls and Boys from England and Wales who were fortunate to have tickets to Twickenham today. No ticketless fans crashing the turnstiles, no pitch invasions, no tear gas and baton charges by police horses,no criminal damage in Twickenham High street post match and more alcohol consumed in...

The National Anthem of Eire is Amhran Na BhFiann. (The Soldier's Song). It is not sung by the Irish Rugby team at International matches but is sometimes played at home games. The point is, I don't care if the Scots sing Donal wheres ya troosas, the Irish sing Paddy M,Ginty's Goat, the Welsh sing Myfanwy or Sospan Fach, the French sing Non Je Regrettes, or the Italians sing O Sole Mio. My beef is why do they tell us what we are allowed to sing?

No complaints here, just disappointment in the Welsh team who were dominated for 70 minutes by a far better England team. Magnificent though it was the comeback was on, but sadly they left it too late and why they went up the narrow side as the clock was about to go red I have no idea. Furthermore, I must express my dismay at the TMO who is guilty of dereliction of duty in regards to Francis, who's cowardly act should have seen him red carded, nothing less.
Though it pains me to say it, I wish England the best of luck next weekend in their quest for Grand Slam glory. That said, allez les Bleus!

Mockingbird isnt bad
tenor line easy to follow ... even if half cut ....
thanks for your corby intervention Corvus

...//Ireland's Call" (as the anthem of the home team) are sung. Elsewhere, "Ireland's Call" is the only anthem used in recognition of the need for a unifying anthem."
"The anthem of the home team". There is a clue there, can you spot it.//

"is sung" - is another clue.....

and they werent singing -
they werent even mouthing ....

hence my question - I dont know why my question has caused so much smoke and no light. I did ask an Irish traveller and he didnt know - doesnt play rugby I suppose even tho he is built like a brick .....
DIVEBUDDY you wrote, "PP. If you knew the first thing about it, or indeed anything at all, you would know that the Irish national Anthem is not used."  at no point in that statement did you qualify anything.

The Irish National Anthem IS played when the Irish rugby team is in the ROI so your statement above is incorrect. Nowhere in your statement did you mention the Irish rugby Anthem, only the anthem of the nation of the ROI so yes, I do get the fact that you are wrong.
Corbyloon

when Divebuddy was doing his time in the Police I understand he was in the Customer Services sector as a result of his communication skills
divebuddy, the irish crowd still give England a standing ovation when they play at Lansdowne road. I was there this time last year, quite emotional. The older guys know why they do it, the youngsters may be don't but they still do it and no doubt quickly find out why. They have never forgotten the England team that defied the IRA when Wales and Scotland cowered.
Jesus the Irish have long memories ....

can anyone remember when someone was last gouged in Association Football ? - footballers too busy attending to their own hairstyles I suppose
Altho the viddie - of the footie player 'nibbling' the other player's neck last night- a scene from Dracula or a porno video or Whaaaat ? shocking I call it not suitable for children - perhaps someone can supply the u tube ref

I suppose you really could say that Rugby is a game played by cads watched by gentlemen and football is a game of gentlemen watched by chavs

[ apols to Oscar Wilde }
"As it is normally told, it is a heart-warming story about the fellowship of rugby overcoming the threat of terrorism. But that is not how Pullin remembers it. In his version of events, the England players were “blackmailed” into travelling by the committee-men of the RFU. “Metaphorically speaking, they put a gun to your head,” says Pullin. “They said they’d take a team and that’s it, and if you wanted to lose your place, you dropped out, didn’t you? That was the long and the short of it.”

Seems like the RFU put the pressure on the players to travel to Dublin.
yes I wondered how long it would be before the anti English would chime in.

How many dropped out? The Taffs and Jocks didn't even have the gonads to give the players the choice
The English players were given little choice in the matter were they? Hardly a case of you if choose not to go we will fully respect your decision eh?

It must really rattle you that England went, in defiance of the murderous threats. Your poisonous slant on the fact illustrates that so well. The bonus is that it stands for ever. Wailing and twisting in the wind won't change it.

Of course, perhaps the Welsh and Scottish RU officials were demonstrating tacit support for the actions of the bombers.
Does look that outrageous suggestion apply to those English players who chose not to go?
