What I don't get is why he will only serve half in jail.
Yes but he will always be on the Sex Offenders register.
Question Author
That is standard practice, 2sp.
That might wiep the smug grin off his face,
The odious man is 71. Like being on the sex offenders register will bother him.
at least he didn't get away scot free
He will only get out in 4 years if he shows some contrition for his crimes otherwise he's in for the long haul.
I never had thoughts either way on him until all this came up but watching
his smug face and his arrogant ways throughout it all, really turned my stomach !
Sorry chrissa, I should have been more clear. I do understand that it is standard practice for prisoners to only serve half of their sentence, so why don't judges just pass the amount of time someone will be jailed for.

I hope his victims feel some sort of justice has been served.
Question Author
I agree, 2sp.

He should consider himself lucky - because of when the offences were committed the judge was limited to 2 years per offence - nowadays the limit is 10 years.

It's good to see this revolting specimen out of circulation.
He will probably appeal.
What do you think he should have got then jordyboy?
/why don't judges just pass the amount of time someone will be jailed for/

because the 8 year sentence can involve restrictions beyond the half way point and in certain circumstances could involve custodial for more of the 8
I'm shocked. Was expecting him to get 18 mths. Oh well ...

Another abuser on his way to prison and peace to those who he abused.
-- answer removed --
It is NOT an 8 year sentence.

He got sentences to a TOTAL of 8 years for various offences, some only 6 months, the longest is 24 months, but he will server then consecutively, so all the at same time.

So the length of his longest sentence is actually only 2 years, so he may be out in far less than that.

The judge says he should serve at least a year in prison.
VHG: Doesn't consecutively mean that one sentence follows after another, therefore 8 years?
/he will server then consecutively, so all the at same time./

wrong vhg sorry!

consecutive means one after another
