We mustn't forget that what we are "celebrating" tomorrow is the homeless refugee couple having to spend the cold and frosty night in a barn for their baby's birth.

Today the Little Englanders would rather see them drowned in the Mediterranean.

We should be grateful the the fable of peace and love hasn't been twisted out of all recognition by greedy, powerful forces bent on profiting from the gullibility of the downtrodden and dispossesed. It could all have led to misery for millions down the centuries.

Strewth...
Right you are then.
tomorrow is the homeless refugee couple

Strange that if you mean Mary and Joseph, I seem to remember from the nativity story ( from my school days ) that they were returning to Bethlehem for a census, they weren't refugees.

Got it in one Tony, usual garbage in the OP.
Oh dear Lord!
Twaddle! They's gone on a journey but neglected to book in advance, so when they got there all the hotels were full.
Thank the lord for mobile phones and wi-fi
Canary isn't the brightest of birds. Probably just best ignored.
They did take refuge in Egypt when Herod started killing new babies but returned to Nazareth after Herod died (as I recall).

There's another difference, however, (overlooked in the OP - it's easily dones, isn't it?) between the Biblical refugees and the young men crossing the Mediterranean with their credit cards and selfie-stick: Joseph took his wife and child with him.
Yes,as pointed out , they were just complying with the requirements of a census. It required each person to return to the town of their birth to register. They were NOT refugees! All the hotels were full (there was no room for them at the Inn) so they 'camped out' in a stable.

yeah - when little baby Jesus arrived why didnt they UBER for a taxi to the nearest maternity unit ?

I mean details like that show it never really occurred innit?

have a good day everyone
Also, as it was Israel (on the Mediterranean coast of the Middle East) it would NOT have been Cold and Frosty. More like a good summer in the UK.
The Cold and Frosty bit is an 18th century religious embellishment intended to 'make a point'

I thought Religion had led to misery for millions down the centuries.
You know, sometimes the simplest stuff can become REALLY hard work.
But you have to admire the naivety of Joseph.

Married to a pregnant virgin, " honestly dear hubby, I never have"

Busts his *** finding digs for them both.

Kid's born, three men arrive " hey, it's a boy, let's bestow gifts".

Hmmm, he doesn't suspect a thing.
Morning Ozzy merry Christmas Santa has been ate half a mince pie, Rudolph had a bite of carrot, and someone had a go at the sherry
G'day TonyV

All the best to you and your family.
Poor Douglas
