After reading Theland's thread below (who or what created the universe) and the debate that developed between Naomi and others regarding ancient aliens visiting Earth, I thought that it may deserve a thread of its own.
I read von Daniken's books as a teenager and later found out that much of what he wrote was fabricated. *BUT* there have been other authors who have had the same ideas without Danikens fancies.
Myself, I'm open minded about it all, but still a fascinating subject to discuss.

Ahhh ... yes .... but who were they, Theland? Who were they really?
I haven't read as much as I would have liked, hopefully, there's still time.
Anyhoo, I do remember seeing a film by EvD when I was a child, think it was about Nascar Lines which could only be seen from above?

Don't know if that was debunked or not, but it's a fascinating theory that Earth was visited millenia ago and have since apparently, been left alone.
Certainly not from other planets. Anyway, keep your eye on the time or you will be late for work.
Theland, //Certainly not from other planets. //

Why not?
The physics involved prohibits it. Why? Very very long explanation. The distances involved for starters.
Not sure you should be going around trying to use physics for your arguments when you spent a great deal of the "who created the universe" thread rubbishing it.
Theland, That assumes that man has learnt all there is to know about science and that there is nothing more to be discovered. Do you think that's right?
Crop circles can also only be seen from above. Doesn't mean aliens came to make them.

Don't know about seeing Nascar Lines from other planets, but it seems unlikely to me considering even the Great Wall isn't distinguishable by eye https://www.snopes.com/science/greatwall.asp, even a large telescope would surely have issues spotting a few lines?
No lots more to learn. But from what I know and believe, aliens are an impossible explanation and would require more faith than I have to consider it viable.

OG, there is no suggestion that the Nasca lines can be seen from space, simply from the air.

Theland, common sense dictates that there’s more likelihood of life on other planets than of the supernatural. You’re in denial matey!

10ClarionSt, the wheel was known in the New World long before Columbus arrived.
I think Earth as it was cooling may have been visited by aliens by a space vessel before there was any life . They found nothing to interest them and dumped a pile of their organic kitchen and toilet waste before buzzing off and the rest, as they say, is history.
Then I must be in good company, "matey".
I'm always good company, Theland.
Touchez.
Theland mentioned planets.
You also when you quoted them.
OG, I didn't mention the Nasca lines - someone else did - but I think Theland was talking about something else entirely.
I'm the somebody else, and I never said they could be viewed from space, only from 'above'

As in a helicopter.

^Quite right.
