If there was a WW3 then surely it might be necessary to fight for your freedom, or the freedom of your family or fellow man? Had we not gone to WW2 and so many of our brave young lads and ladies not given up their lives, then we might be living very different lives today. We should be thankful for that.

Using Iraq in isolation is very different to a world war.
Posted before I finished.

If you imagine that in WW3 that the war might 'come to you' so to speak, I imagine that I would be ready and willing to fight for what freedom I have and to protect my family. Sitting in prison doing nothing to earn your right to eventual freedom is selfish and lame. If you don't want to fight (which is a reasonable view point), then there would be other ways of assisting with the war effort.

to octavious- i meant taking into account this country is in, all the refugees and asylum seekers, terrorists, corrupt government and politicians i would not fight , no. in ww2 they had a common foe, they knew who the enemy was- things were a lot different back then.
i am no coward, i was a bouncer, debt collector and baliff to name a few, i have seen some nasty things but, before you spark on, i know these jobs are a lot diiferent to actually being on a front line having to kill people that have nothing themselves.
in nazi germany the enemy was obvious- these days wed probably have more of the enemy on our own side than we were fighting against...
as for why should i have freedom if i wasnt prepared to fight for it, well if things were threatening me or my country personally (as in ww2) i would fight no question, but asking me to go abroad and fight people who have nothing to begin with and risk my life is in my opinion pointless- let them sort their own problems out.
p.s read this carefully before you reply as i dont want to have to repeat myself.
i agree with pianoman81 completely, it wouldnt be protecting self and family to go fight imaginary threat, how can fighting other human beings with same ideals be for good of our country. I wouldnt fight if i was asked, why should i be the governments gimp? why should anyone die for future generations, we are grown ups we should sort it out in the present, men can be so childish, if they listened to their mothers there would be less destruction in the world.
As a christadelphian I would not fight but I would serve in other ways
