naomi; // knocking atheism does nothing to endorse the validity of religious belief. //

That's like saying, 'knocking evil does not endorse the validity of goodness'
And ...?

Why is no one addressing the point being made?
Question Author
naomi: "Why is no one addressing the point being made? " - because irrefutable logic is the enemy of theists.
TTT logic no more refutes religion than it does ballroom dancing.
//TTT logic no more refutes religion than it does ballroom dancing//

If that's true explain why. I'm willing to bet you won't.
Where's the logic in ballroom dancing ?
Knew you wouldn't. Par for the course, Khandro.
If we are to remove everything from life on the grounds of its illogicality we would be left with rather thin gruel.

TTT 09:20 above appears to refute religion by its lack of logic, I cite ballroom dancing, but I have lots to choose from. There is zero logic in football; 22 men kicking a ball around a field, & yet some people are so passionate about it, is almost their raison d'être. :0)
You're an expert at dancing, khandro.
Question Author
khandro: "TTT logic no more refutes religion than it does ballroom dancing." - no one said it did. The irrefutable logic is in the title of this post. All Christians are 99.99% Atheist, ditto Muslims, jews etc. That is what is irrefutable.
I think Gervais is a decent comedian but on this he is talking a lot of bull. No one can prove they believe in a god because it is a belief. He should think before he spouts out nonsence.

Why William? Do you believe in Vishnu - or any of the other 3000 or so Gods - apart from the one you worship?
Question Author
william: "I think Gervais is a decent comedian but on this he is talking a lot of bull" - please explain how. He's talking about statistically, Christians refute the existence of all other gods, atheists refute the existence of one more than that. That is what is irrefutable.
I am saying that he should not cite statistics of belief in a god or not. It is fine for him to be an atheist, but he should not try and show others are wrong.
Question Author
Funny how all the Theists jump on the non point of this post. It's just a statistically accurate determination that if Atheism was measured as a percentage we are all 99.99+% atheist. I suppose they must find the arithmetical measure of the futility of their belief disturbing and thus avoid it and focus on their own made up point that is not being made.
Question Author
william: "I am saying that he should not cite statistics of belief in a god or not. It is fine for him to be an atheist, but he should not try and show others are wrong" - where has he or anyone said anyone is wrong? It is merely a statistical assignation. Why is that so uncomfortable?
William, He's attempting to explain atheism. You believe in one God but none of the other 3000 or so that other people believe in. He doesn't believe in them either - nor the single one that you believe in. It's not difficult.
What I find bewildering is that some people turn to comedians for religious instruction.
When your car needs servicing do you go to a fishmonger?
Sorry. I am a little confused with all the points of argument. Apologies if i have stirred up a hornets nest.
