I’m fed up with people knocking this great country of ours so in the spirit of patriotism I reckon it’s time to fly the flag on all public buildings, schools included, and anywhere else people would like to fly it. I’m searching for a flag pole and someone to install it in my garden as I type. What say you?

Many on AB do not give a rat's aris whether or not Scotland gain independence.
Many of the same people did not give a rat's aris whether or not Northern Ireland would have to erect a hard border with the South as a result of Brexit.
Many of the same people will no doubt advocate flying the Union Flag.
'Twas ever thus :-/
when you see the flags flying at the Last Night of The Proms its a wonderful sight, not just ours of course, but the Union Flag has a special place in my heart.
I say, I too am fed up with people knocking our country (and sadly usually winning), so YES fly the flag with pride. I can't because I only have a back yard and nowhere to put it, but a neighbour of mine who has a bigger house with a garden has been flying one for years and good on him.
Ooooh, I have a few left over from last May when we celebrated VE Day-in the street , I’ll look for a flag pole with you Naomi :0)

Zacs, //Naomi's post is obviously something (at least in part) to do with her perception of Britain being taken over by Islam //

Wrong. Entirely. Rather it's to do with what appears to be an ever-encroaching attempt to undermine and destroy British culture with more and more deemed racist - from poetry and literature, to art, statues, television programmes ... and the latest gems of stupidity, classical music and Georgian buildings.
ZM: "Is that the Union flag, Tora or the Cross of St George? I'd never fly the former but I'd consider the latter (and then possibly realise it was a bit....strange). " - the default is the union Flag, I fly the CSG on the 23rd, and the Kiwi on the 25th. I have other flags for when some of my work buddies visit for a BBQ.
i think many do care what happens to Scotland, and there can be no more nationalistic people in my view than the Scots.
as to Ireland, that i am sure will be sorted sooner than later.
flying over our local council was once The Red Flag, now that's taking the pizz.
'Zacs, why would you want to stop swallows nesting in your eaves?'
Because their guano goes all over our window cills, painted render and cars. Plus they nest just above our bedroom window and the twittering wakes us at sparrows-fart in summer i.e. 4:00/4:30ish.
Cheers, Tora.
Mine too Emmie - the left atrium in fact.

You can get freestanding or wall mounted flagpoles Shirley.
chico: "Australia and New Zealand for a start! Why? Because not everyone in those proudly independent nations is wildly happy about having flags which incorporate our Union Flag in them! " - they can change them anytime, they have thus far voted not to.
will do some searching....
Naomi , here on EBay, limited , all is patriots must be buying them and you can also fly the St George’s flag on it with the Union one

There's plenty on sale by beaches down here - ready for sand castles. Could buy them and use them in plant pots.....Could be a healthy trade in these.
Can you mamya, I just imagined a long flag pole stuck in the ground ?!
Emmie, the fact that 'many do care' doesn't mean that just as many don't.
Although I think I’d prefer a one going from the wall

Thanks bobbi. Something like that will do very nicely.
You can even buy Scottish and Welsh ones occasionally.....
I can't fly the full flag, as there is no room on the balcony, but will certainly have a dinky one for the planters. Good for you naomi.
