@19:46 India
I just liked the simplicity of the quote Woof, I don't do over complication.
The Royals work (after a fashion)...
Doubt anyone would describe THEM as 'working class'.
237SJ - "@19:46 India"

From apathy, pixie's choice, to idiocy, 237SJ(unless that interjection
was meant to be humorous or just ignorant of the facts).... this thread could become 'Untouchable'

Think Naomi Qualifies.
sevenOP - I was just answering your question. Stop being so rude to me (and others) and get over yourself.
On a slight tangent, I think society was more equitable in the post-war period until the 1980's. Since then social mobility has gone backwards until today where it's stone cold dead.
Some reasons, imo;
The closing of Grammar Schools
Ending free further education and reducing its 'worth'.
And the biggest block to social mobility- Internships in all the top professions/jobs.
People today are well and truly trapped in minimum wage/agency jobs (again, imo)

What is rude about claiming your comment India fits the criteria of "There are far more countries that don't have a Class system than those who do." is either idiotic, ignorant, or an attempt at humour?

Please don't use cheap tricks like "get over yourself" as evasion.

India is a class riddled society.
"apathy, idiocy" Think about it..
Or maybe you just always speak to people like that and you don`t know any different

Perhaps you should have thought about it more before posting India as an answer? I have no battle with you 237SJ, that is our 'difference'.

I was going to originally post this Link for pixie and anyone else to consider but decided not for various reasons, but I will now, but I state that I do not necessarily agree with 'the fraudulent disease' and 'The Operation' aspects, I recognize the masks/status/roles masquerade as noteworthy:

1. I did think about it. 2. I have no truck with you either 3. I don't care what our differences are
"There is a working class - strong and happy - among both rich and poor: there is an idle class - weak, wicked, and miserable - among both rich and poor."

John Ruskin
I don’t think we got to a definitive answer, did we.
Question Author
No, I don’t think we did, zacs. The thing is I read stuff on here from a few people who bang on about the hardship the working class is suffering, but I travel the country, I very rarely see an old banger of a car, new housing estates are going up everywhere - with all homes quickly sold and occupied - and shopping centres are heaving with reasonably dressed and clearly well-fed people toting bags of purchases - not forgetting that holidays abroad are big business too (well, they were until we were all put under house arrest). So where is the working class I keep hearing about who are so hard done by? It seems to me that the vast majority aren’t doing too badly at all.
The 'hard done by' can't afford cars, houses or holidays.
True, they splash out on food now and again.
You might not encounter them, Naomi, but they do exist.
Question Author
Oh, I encounter them, Spicerack, but the point I'm making is that, contrary to the hand wringers' claims, in today's world they are not representative of 'the working class' as a whole.
Surely the people you’re referring to, Naomi, are the non working class?
