Whether you fall into the group classified as ‘at risk’, or are over 70 and advised to remain at home, or younger and fit but requested to abandon your social life, will you comply - and if not why not?

Me? I think we are duty bound.

Of course we will comply, as you rightly say Naomi we feel we are ALL duty bound to do so. Chillidoubt must feel like banging his head against the wall with some of the responses here. It’s not much to ask to put your social life on hold for a few months is it? Better that than catch this virus or continue the spread of it. I despair at times...

Emmie could you not get shopping whilst you are at the hairdressers ?
It is foolish in the extreme to rather be British, Free... and Dead...

Rather than accepting that the Chinese people, once again, can teach us something.

"will you comply - and if not why not?"
Yes I will actually except for when I'm going to get my lovely grandparents or parents shopping.

I'd rather be at risk than them, but someone needs to do the shopping!
Georgesgirl - now is not the time to play the blame game so please don't.
Georgiesmum I said as much earlier in the week and my post was reported for this, so tread carefully :0)
Georgesgirl. “The Chinese started all this!”

10 out of 10 for creative thinking, 0 out of 10 for intelligence.

How can we survive such stupidity?
Georgiesgirl, how does blaming someone else help now?
The disease appears to have originated from a Wuhan seafood market where wild animals, including marmots, birds, rabbits, bats and snakes, are traded illegally

Sorry my post reads georgiesmum and it should be Geordiesgirl ( apologises GM)
/// wipe their bums and stuff their faces ///

Two independent actions I hope ;-)

. . . or perhaps not
The virus originated in China. It is *not* a Chinese virus. The Chinese didn't start it. Yes, they should look closely at their hygiene habits, and the way food is sold, but it's also not true, as has been suggested in this thread or elsewhere, that most such diseases start in Asia. Swine Flu in 2009 began in Mexico. AIDS began in Africa. Spanish Flu is likely to have begun in Europe. Diseases can come from anywhere.
If it originated in China it's Chinese, jim. + the authorities there covered it up. We don't need any lessons from them.
I am intrigued by the "No new cases in China" storylines.

They haven't all had it, they can't be immune. So where has it gone? Or are they telling porkies?

It may be possible to defeat this virus simply by locking ourselves away until it runs out of victims to infect. But that seems highly unlikely to have happened already in China.
"If it originated in China it's Chinese, jim."

Maybe ask the virus what it wasn't to self identify or is like still black and white for you and your ideology lol
No. A virus has no nationality.
