Sir Hugh Munro must own a lot in Scotland. Half of the mountains there seem to be named after him.
My OH owns a mountain. It just happens to be on the land he owns.
I have a mountain of debt. Does that count?
There's a bloke called Andy who owns a whole range of them in South America.
If you are being highly technical, the Queen does by virtue of being monarch, just as she owns every piece of land in the Kingdoms. What we call landowners are merely people who she allows to have the land 'freehold' with quiet enjoyment, holding it free of interference.

But, that bit of legal history aside, you'll find that every mountain is owned freehold by some legal personality: a company, partnership, trust, individual, or office (The Bishop of Norwich is probably a personality for this purpose, and I don't even know the man)
Well that's what we allow her to think. The Tower awaits the monarch who displeases the people.
There are an awful lot of Mountains, can we not narrow it down a bit, are you thinking where you live, in France?
Crying.......
..however if it's North America you're interested in, I can put you in touch with my mate Rocky.
I can offer you some excellent double-glazing for your new house in the mountains, from my mate in Everest.......
(p.s. as long as you give him a Mont Blanc pen for signing the contract)
OMG what was said about ChatterBank on an earlier post is all true! You're all stark raving bonkers and I'm proud to be a member of this club!
I strongly suspect that honeydip is not quite as naive - or as opinionated as he would have us believe. :o)
without doing any research most if not all the mountains in Scotland belong to either the land owners, the National Trust, or the John Muir Trust.
