Did you notice how uninterested Prince Philip was towards the crowds clapping and wishing him well, outside Church today ? I even noticed someone in a wheelchair waiting outside church. What is it about the Royal Family that makes people queue for hours in the cold and wet when certain members can't even be bothered to look at them ?

to be honest, he is 90 and probably feels he hasnt long for this world and is perhaps feeling afraid and tired and shocked.

if that was me i woudlnt give a monkeys about strangers waving at me...

he does what he does because it his job and his position...i'll bet he couldnt care less about 'the people' ...

I think Prince Phillip did remarkably well all things considered.

I think the question title is ignorant.
I would think that he made the walk for his health, rather than to satisfy the gawkers.
" why do people queue for hours in the cold and wet " to ( see ) the royals,. baffles me !

not sure, but he is a very very old man!..........probably an little senile!......
This thread is too one sided and based on a tv report. The pix in the Daily Mail on line show him talking to different people in the crowd. He did his bit, and just out of hospital I think it was over and above the call of duty. Good on him and I hope at 90 I am as courageous.
I don't think he's senile, he still has all his marbles - and he did speak, he just didn't speak to everyone - as has been said, they just walk by and people watch. It was the first time he'd been out since his op - and tbh he's never been overly matey with the watching crowds. I didn't see any difference - he was walking with family, they didn't chat and wave either, they don't.

bit like you KS??

Amused that someone would simply assume a 90 year old would be senile. I can assure you that at 90 my dad was still digging his own garden, reading, playing the stock market and doing crosswords. He certainly was not senile and remained in possession of all his faculties til he died at age 95. Mind you, he would probably have ignored waving crowds as well lol
maggiebee, great that your dad was not senile, but sadly, most folk of that age really are!..........and Prince Phillip may well be!.......
I always had the impression Philip was quite sharp for his age...there has never been any indication that he's minus a few marbles....just opinionated.
Did any of the onlookers express disappointment that an elderly man who is recovering from heart surgery did not wave? I know I wouldn't.
Many aren't, welsh - my mum had all her marbles at 94, as did all the older ladies that she lived with.
