The last strike that I know of in Great Britain was in 1986 when Murdoch decided to move his newspapers to a modern plant at Wapping. It was the staff that actually publish the newspaper, the letter setters etc who actually went on strike. This link has some information, http://www.hughesd.fsnet.co.uk/Pilger1.html. Typing in Wapping, 1986 and newspaper strike throws up loads of sites.
I meant of course typing Wapping, 1986 and newspaper strike into a search engine throws up loads of information.
