... I noticed the image on the 1st class stamp shows Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus.
As we're no longer a Christian country could the design next year take account of the sensibilities of non Christians and go for a secular image?

You're right, of course, Sandy. Christmas would be lot better if people didn't keep trying to bring religion into it!

Sacrilegious?
Would you like that?
You're right, of course, Sandy.

No.
I'm just gently trying to stir things up a bit. :-)
Well you've missed the last posting date!!!
Paganism maybe. Christ’s Mass. The clues in the name.
Abolishing Christianity….not just yet eh…
But then the word Christmas itself should not exist. There wouldn't be a Christmas without the story. Winter holiday would be OK for me, with no cards at all. Easter cards used to be sent a lot years ago, but very few these days. The stamps are really just art works.

They'll likely arrive before the New Year.
The recipients will probably blame striking posties for the delay.
Even as a non Christian I tend to make Christian themed cards for those among my circle who follow that faith. Yule cards for the pagans, and something different for the rest. I have no problem with Christmas stamps having a christian image as you can always use the ordinary ones if it bothers you.
Our stamps don't always have a religious theme but without Christ there would be no Christmas, we'd have to call it Xmas.
a non-prophet postal service ?
Sandy. Leave the baby Jesus alone . ::)
Think you have a choice at the post office Sandy. Some of my friends get religious stamps, but Muslim friends get the ordinary ones. I like to keep Christ in Christmas.
Don't know why your Muslim friends get standard stamps. My Muslim friends celebrate Christmas as Jesus is an important prophet in Islam. And their children want presents :D

Saturnalia from the Romans, Yule from Norse (reindeer, for instance), all pagan stuff. It'd be nice to have stamps featuring Saturn eating his children (or vegan alternative), or Odin on an eight legged horse.

I'd like to see Dionysus and Silenus on our stamps. Though I'm not sure they've much to do with the depths of Winter.
We have had several years with secular themes - e.g. Wallace & Gromit a few years ago.
I didn't by the Christmas stamps this year for that very reason.
