I'd like some recommendations for Christmas Dinner, please.

So far, for the 'mains', I'm thinking the following:

Turkey Breast Joint
Pigs In Blankets
Roast Potatoes (boiled and then deep-fried OR oven roasted)
Mashed Potato
Pork, Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls
Stuffing
Dumplings
Carrots, Broccoli & Cauliflower & Processed Peas (or Marrowfat Peas)
Apple Sauce
Cranberry Sauce
Gravy

For pudding/desert (possibilities):

Christmas Cake (fruitcake with marzipan icing)
Jam Roly-Poly (with custard)
Sticky Toffee Pudding (with custard)
Apple Strudel
New York Cheesecake
Battenberg Cake
Yogurt
Fruit

I don't think the pudding/desert is as important, given that I'll probably not be able to move after eating the Christmas Dinner. The meal is just for myself and my better half.

Any ideas will be very much appreciated from all you lovely people :)

Ditch dessert go straight to cheeseboard with nuts and fruit, glass of port, take your time nibbling.
Ditch one of the potatoes on the menu, I would go with Roasties
Ditch dumplings ( ???)
Stuffing balls tend to dry out so a stuffing made in a tray or bought would be better
Broccoli or cauli, they are both brassicas so just one
Apple sauce does not go with turkey IMO

Dessert, try a nice bought frozen roulade or M&S do a lovely raspberry trifle
I wouldn't have mash - just roasties
No dumplings or apple sauce or processed Peas (unless they are a particular favourite of yours)
I love red cabbage and parsnips

We usually have profiteroles or something light for pudding later on.
At the end of the day it's your Christmas meal so go with whatever is your favourite:-)
There's two of you. My recommendation is to have what you both fancy.
I'd say "fish" as the main (which is what we're having)...but it's not for everyone!
If you eat like that, there must be a bit of weight on you!! Are you actually thinking of having the lot? Just the two of you?
As a frugal vegetarian, I couldn't come up with any suggestions. Most of the items sound lovely, but all a bit too much. I'm sure you'll work out a shortlist with a few comments from here.
Enjoy.
Half what you are going to serve, then you will have the right amount .
It’s Xmas, not death by food . :-)
That does seem a lot! I'm assuming there's no sprouts because you don't like them. Two lots of stuffing or one or t'other? We only have roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts ( or cauli). Not sure about dumplings, they go in stew in our house, or apple sauce, much better with pork. We keep pudding light, my son likes a small piece of apple crumble and custard and profiteroles for hubby and me. In the long run,it is your meal, have what you fancy.

I totally forgot to ask what everyone else was having, DOH! I know a desert suggestion thread was already created.

Rowanwitch: I don't think either of us would do much nibbling from a cheeseboard. I'd probably eat Wensleydale, however that's a bit boring. No booze, we're both recovering alcoholics (4+ years sober for me).

Meaghan27: I love roasties, my OH doesn't really like them. Well that isn't entirely true, she will probably have one, I'd eat an entire 1/2 hundred weight of spuds, roasted, if I could. I think I'll just go for broccoli then, rather than both brassicas (that way I won't be left brassic :P after buying all this lot). It's a shame we don't have an M&S near us - only a Sainsbury's, Aldi, B&M, Iceland/Food Warehouse (I probably should have mentioned that in my Question too).

MargoTester: The apple sauce and processed peas are a must, for me anyway. The only vegetables I eat are carrots and peas. I think I will scrub the dumplings. I'm seriously considering the profiteroles though, we both likes those very much, yum.

gingejbee: We're both meatasaurus' and don't like fish. Thank you for your suggestion, it is greatly appreciated.

Atheist: I weigh roughly 13 stone 2 lbs (184 lb/83.4 kg) at a height of 5 feets 9.5 inches (176.53 cm). So I guess I am overweight. My OH is around 20 stones and is 6 feets 4 inches, approx - she is and has been bed bound for 5, going on 6 years.

anneasquith: You're probably right, I will definitely make sure that I do cook too much. That way I'll be able to feed us both for a few days afterwards too :)

roopower: Correct regarding the sprouts, we both hate them, with a passion :P My OH wants two lots of stuffing, so two lots of stuffing she shall gets! You're the second person to mention profiteroles - I think that is a sign ;)

Anyway, I best get gone to the pharmacy and the shops. I'll check back in on this thread after I've got back. Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions/thoughts so far - you're too kind :)

the only caveat

I agree with Meaghan77.

Although if we were on our own on CD, we would just have "bung in the oven" nibbles. Mr BM would not want me to go to a lot of trouble for what is essentially an over-hyped roast.

Barmaid, I don't eat with my OH very often, I don't like eating in bed. I guess I go all out with food at Christmas because 1, for me it has always been like that (all my life pretty much). 2, my OH was never really spoiled by her family. Usually we go to her dad's on Boxing Day, however this year he hasn't even bothered to call to arrange anything - so I guess it's not happening this year.

I've finished in Sainsbury's, now time to go to Iceland :)
Turkey burger, potato, sprouts, parsnip.
Because I'm not well enough to cook and I want MrT to have a relaxed Christmas day, there are two sirloin steaks, Morrisons frozen Yorkshire puddings, Morrisons frozen roast potatoes and even morrisons best beef gravy all in the freezer. All he needs to do is some veg. And we're not pudding eaters so a nice box of choc will be our afters.
I don't drink, and there's Carlsbergs and wine in for Mr T.
I did drink in my younger days but have no desire to do so now.
Xero; I always did my best to cook loads of stuff so that there was plenty left the day after for my birthday lunch, Birthday Squeak. With a bottle of decent wine. If you cook a lot of what you like, then enjoy what you can on the day and use up the rest later.
Oh Miss! You're not making him do the veg! I thought you were looking after him!
I really can't stand a piled up plate of food and I really can't understand how people can eat a huge Christmas dinner and then have another meal later. But that used to happen when I was young. Always a salad, cold turkey and a big trifle to follow!!
