I have enjoyed watching RS globe trotting this week, not sure if they are repeats. Some of the food looks really tasty in the different countries, but I do wonder if some of the food he eats puts him on the loo for a week. Last night he ate chicken that had been boiled in some cock up, and the blood as he said was still running out when eating it. And I can't for the life of me see that some of the street food can be safe to eat. Have you ever been to countries and eaten street food.
yup, many times in Singapore and Hong Kong, a couple of times in Thailand, also Penang and America. this was all around 40 years ago. I think in all the times I did it, I got caught out twice but as I used to love the tropical fruit from the fruit stands, it may just have been too much fruit as I wasn't ill with it. I have had Norwalk more times in the UK than I have had food related upsets abroad.
I tend to avoid street food. Don`t trust the handling. I remember a friend of mine ate street food in Singapore and came home with paratyphoid - ended up in an isolation hospital for a week.
Just remembered - I ate street food (well, cooked on the beach) in Koh Samui this year. I half expected to be ill but wasn`t which was a bit of a surprise.
Not street food as such teacake but really suffered in India after eating - out of courtesy really - some of the little seeds that are offered to you from a little tray after a meal.
I really like Rick Stein - he seems a very gentle man and is always so respectful of the different people that he meets.
