Damn savage - shoulda been castrated.
outrageous, HMP North Sea Camp in Boston, Lincolnshire (open prison) sounds just the job for a holiday . . .

No doubt there will be a full enquiry and lessons will be learned blah blah blah

My thoughts exactly when I read the news yesterday.
I hope everyone's locked their cat flaps. How the heck does he manage to squeeze through one of those?
//How the heck does he manage to squeeze through one of those?//

He's a snake!
Head should roll! A dangerous sex offender in an open prison! That's sensible!!
either he's dangerous or he isn't. The justice secretary - Buckland, I think - thought he wasn't. Now everyone thinks he is.
//The sex offender had been in and out of prison for attacks against adult women and girls as young as eight in the 16 years before he was handed the life term.//

How can he not be dangerous!! Crazy!
It is disturbing that he was in an open prison.
^
Even more disturbing that he no longer is:-/
Very disturbing. If he can get through a cat flap he can get through anything. Hope he's recaptured soon!
/////How Was This Savage Allowed To Escape?////

He wasn't "allowed" to escape as if he asked the Governor for permission he " managed" to escape.

More to the point, why was he allowed "in and out of prison" when a far longer custodial sentence was clearly needed long before it was finally given.
What sort of freaks sit on these Parole boards.

The police consider him a serious danger to women and girls.

The Parole Board consider him suitable for Open Prison.

The Secretary of State for Justice endorses this opinion.

Obviously our police are far more crime-aware than the Parole Boards or the Secretary of State for Justice. At the very least these blinkered folk should be compelled personally to fund the efforts towards his recovery - why should the taxpayer foot the bill for those who undermine our police forces.
Who knows? I can only imagine he was given the recommended sentence each time.
Firstly, cut his appendage off with a rusty knife. Secondly, lock him in a proper jail and throw away the key. Sorted !
Our justice system is totally screwed.

Needs starting again from the top down.
