How Many Cities are there in Europe? (i know all cities have to have cathedrals)

There is no rule or law which says that a city has to have a cathedral, or that a place with a cathedral has to be a city.  In the UK, being a city depends entirely on whether it has a Royal Charter, irrespective of whether it's got a cathedral.
