Hi abers, this is probably not the right place to be on ,but i dont really know who else to ask-my lovely husband is upstairs -snoring like it is some olympic sport!. though on a serious note he has always snored it seems a lot worse since he has been diagnosed with an over active thyroid. He is on all sorts of medication, and also has trouble with an eye protruding, bless him! he is such an easy going person, but i hate to see him this way, although i would give my right arm to join him-it just aint gonna happen while he is making all that row! Any one got any advice on snoring please! or what to do while he sleeps and i dont!

well, if you're awake anyway, join us on the night shift!!

As for the snoring, does it make any difference if he is lying on his back?...if so, you could try sewing a ping pong/tennis ball to the back of his top so he would automatically go back to lying on his side if he rolled over.

You could also ask the doc for a nasal spray, as it can help clear mucus from the back of the nose/throat to relieve snoring - which is often associate with lots of medication - also hayfever!

If that doesn't work, its either the spare room or you could put a pillow over his face!!

Hi Geordie..whenever my husband starts to snore, usually because he is lying on his back,I have found that if I move him onto his side, the noise greatly lessens!!
when i can't sleep because of the wife snoring i always try to roll her on her side as the noise is cut down greatly like lindapinda says, i give her a dig in the ribs if she is hard to roll over ,this gives me a certain amount of pleasure, it makes her jump six inches across the bed and she stops snoring for about five minutes ,seriously she is so noisy snoring you wouldn't believe it.
It sounds like he needs to go and see his GP and ask to be referred to an ENT surgeon, who will advise you further.

In some cases, surgery is required to the soft palate, even removing the uvula(the little dangly piece at the back of the throat).

His eye portruding is due to a build up of fat at the back of it, caused by the thyroid problem.

Hope all goes well for you, best of luck.

Hi again geordie , pleased you got some sleep eventually.
Don't know if you're going to play it back to him after work but , if you do , can your digital camera hook up to either your tv or your computer so that you can play it back with a good deal of surround sound from big speakers !!!
