A company launched this idea a year or so ago but it didn't take off. I would definitely have it done if it was properly supported, the chip itself is not much bigger than a single grain of rice.
I would have two chips, one in each hand. One for my debit card and the other for my credit card

Would you have it done, assuming there was a way to reprogram the chip if your bank details changed?

Do you mean that the idea is that you have a microchip implanted in each hand? I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
Can't I have it in my forehead?
No, the only chips I would have are the ones you eat!
I have enough life saving FOs placed in my body. No more thank you. Those chips are on my plate or in my electrical circuits.
Sanhander are said to be interested.
An American, Japanese, and a Nigerian were sitting naked in the sauna. Suddenly there is a beeping sound. The American presses his forearm and others look at him questioningly. “That’s my pager,” he says. “I have a microchip under the skin of my arm.” “A few minutes later a phone rings. The Japanese lift his palm to his ear. When he finishes he explains,” that’s my mobile phone. I have a micro chip in my hand.” The Nigerian feeling decidedly low-tech but not to be out done decided he had to do something just as impressive. He steps out of the sauna and goes to the toilet. He returns with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his butt. The others raised their eye brows and said, “Wow” what’s that? “I’m getting a fax,” he explains.
Classic gold TTT. :-)
I can understand technology in the body for things like replacement joints, pacemakers etc, but is this not a step too far?

Muggers with machetes ready to chop their victim's arm off...
I wonder if we seniors can get chipped with our name and address in case we can't remember either!
Question Author
That will be compulsory, in the forehead so they can be quickly scanned when handed in as lost property :D

Jim, I think it will be easier for those muggers to bop you over the head to nick your cards and phone out of your pockets than hack at your arms with a huge machete
Implants won't be necessary, a simple finger print will do, even now connect to a paypal account and you can pay with your finger anyway.
Barry, I think you have completely missed the point of my post...
Question Author
I often do that, Jim. The fault is always mine
The point being that the chip would replace the plastic card, so there'd be no plastic card for the mugger to take...
Question Author
But the person with the card would be the easier target.
I now have images of mugger waving my severed hand over the paypoint in Tescos

Well Elon Musk's Neurolink brain-computer interface chip has just been approved for clinical trials in humans, so yes!

Frankenstein science...
I've had a chip on my shoulder for years.
I'm a well balanced person...
