I've had a really long shopping list sitting in my pocket all day long but I've never made it to a big supermarket. So, with just a few minutes left before they were due to close at 11, I've just been down to the local Co-op. With so little time left, I had to prioritise my shopping list. So here's what I bought:
1. Cat food (always at the top of the list!)
2. Beer
3. Pizza
BTW: I also applied perfect logic with my selection of beer. The Co-op were offering two large (660 ml) of beer for £4, so I had to decide whether to buy
(a) 2 bottles of Staropramen ;
(b) 2 bottles of Moretti ; or
(c) 1 bottle of Staropramen and 1 bottle of Moretti.
The solution was obvious to me: I bought two bottles of each ;-)
A good red wine...the heat of an Irish Whiskey...even just the sight of a properly pulled pint of Guinness. They all have something wonderful going for them that's bliss.
I have tried beer. It reminded me of taking an art class and picking up the mug of water Wayne had cleaned his paint brush in instead of my mug of coffee...... ;-)
I did used to be partial to the odd pint of Old Knob Wobbler et al, but have now moved over almost entirely to the Dark Side - a proper pint of Guinness is a beautiful thing indeed ...
With you with the whiskey, though I tend to prefer with only six letters. A smooth Highland Park or a peaty Laphroaig Quarter Cask - "the water of life".
I used to love Laphroaig but I can't stand it these days. My Scottish friend is the same; he also prefers something rather more mellow, such as Jura or Old Pulteney, these days. It must be old age!
