That was the best 90 minutes of tv i have watched in many a month. At the grand old age of 83, Glenda Jackson proves once again what a brilliant actress she is. Elizabeth Is Missing was well scripted, very well acted and, at times, quite harrowing to watch - especially for anyone who has experienced a loved one's demise through Alzheimer's.

We've just watched it too. Glenda is a brilliant actor. Very well done and worth watching.
as you see by my other post - great drama - and fabulous actress.
An astounding performance, touched every emotion.
Kept faithfully to the book. Wonderful acting by a wonderful cast, Glenda Jackson was outstanding.
I'll admit to not being the sharpest
knife in the box, but I was as confused
as Elizabeth by it all.
Top marks to Glenda Jackson a wonderful
portrayal, my mother and mother in law
both took it to their graves.
Jobjockey, you’re not the only one who was confused.
When it finished husband asked me ‘What was that all about, then?’ I was crying too much to make an answer that made any sense to him.
Beautiful portrayal by Glenda. The actress who played her daughter was very good too.
i might do a catch up as i had long gone to bed by the time it was on..
anybody enlighten me - when Glenda was looking for Elizabeth (Maggie Steed) - and Glenda went to the garden and Elizabeth came out - like where had she been all the time.
I can't jj as I haven't watched it yet, but looking forward to watching it after the reviews on here. I recorded it.
it sounded a bit too harrowing for me, which my OH confirmed.

I saw Glenda on stage playing King Lear a couple of years back - marvellous. Used to see her on the tube sometimes too.

I am going to answer JJ's question in my next post because i know she missed the finale. For those who haven't watched it yet, DO NOT read my next post.
JJ watched the ending on iPlayer.

JJ; Elizabeth hadn't gone missing. She collapsed in the garden while Maudy was digging away with her hands looking for the compact case. But Maudy - in her addled state - had forgotten that her friend had collapsed a few days earlier and had been admitted to hospital. Instead, she believed her to be missing. Even immediately after visiting Elizabeth in hospital with her daughter, Maudy said "Elizabeth's missing." Signalling that the Alzheimer's had definitely taken hold.
I didn't watch it, but I get it on catchup.
Question Author
Then she must have missed some of it, mamy:-/
Depressing, at times boring and although the acting was good.....not my scene.
At times it was easy to forget that what we saw on screen were the imaginings of Maudy's mind.

True, mamy, which is what probably caused the confusion for some on these pages?
I started watching it but wasn't finding it enjoyable. I'll give it another go though.
Thank God my wife had read the book and also seen it before. Very confusing with all the flashbacks. Acting superb. I speak from experience of watching my father die with it.
I did not find the flashbacks helpful.
