I'd thought his 'Hitchikers guide to...' stuff was the work of an older man yet see he was quite young when he died. Do others here like his work?

i love it, i was surprised at his age as well, i assumed he was much older. he died very young!
I love it, it's around one of my earliest memories my parents reading the Hitchhiker's guide to me. I also like Terry Pratchett, but of the two prefer Douglas Adams.
I enjoyed the Hitchikers books - Loved the tv series too, didn't care much for the film though

Books are always better. With them your imagination is given free rein.
Is Marvin the Manic Depressive Robot about then......?
Question Author
I sometimes think that Marvin might have been based on me
I liked the books. I don't they've translated very well to the screen though - either TV or film.

Not the gigantic brain, of course.
One of my colleagues in HK was named Marvin - one minute he could be like an enthusiastic twenty five year old, the next the manic depressive. At a directors and partners dinner, his wife told of a staff report he had been given, with the immortal line "He would be a great leader of men - if only they would follow him."
tried reading it and watching the programme, didn't like either.
and the planet of the shoe economy.....brilliant!
I have tried them but his books are not my cup of tea
haven't read the books but the radio series are much better than either the tv or film versions
i want a pan galactic gargle blaster
I heard the radio series, it left scenes to your imagination.
Didn't like the tv series much, definitely mis-casting there.
Never heard the radio series - would have been great. Who knows they might put it on Radio 4 extra one of these days.
Nun, I hope these are the ones I'm talking about.
When I first heard them, the internet wasn't even an apple in the eye of technology :-)
(Must get these speakers checked out)
