I believe it's a bit over a thousand

And probably about 2.4 Million so about 3% of the country

For comparison, this article says in 2007 there were 47,000 churches and 42,000,000 Christians in the UK http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article1362709.ece
The official figures bear no relationship to reality. Our open borders were only partly closed a few months ago by the Border agency. As a rough estimate use the published figures and times this by 4. These are the friends, family members who were initiallly refused but decided to come in on the back of a lorry. Hundreds if not thousands are being rounded up every day working on fruit farms and anywhere cheap labour is required. As most of these are from outside the EU but mostly the Middle East or Pakistan they would belong to the Muslim population
You could get a reasonable accuracy by using Jakes figure of 1000 mosques. On one particular day in Ramadan count the number of worshippers at each mosque. As they are the most religious people on earth you may get quite an accurate figure.
too many mosques. Police should have search powers to enter them at will too.
42 million Christians? 47,000 churches?

That must be why there's standing room only on a Sunday!
