Genesis 7 states "Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate."

Genesis Chapter 7 records that commanded Noah to take into the ark every clean beast by sevens, as the sheep was considered to be clean and obviously a domestic animal it would seem that it fitted this situation. The scripture also states that the sire and its mate was to be taken on board. I am not altogether sure whether this meant that there were 14 sheep in all.Can anyone help?
