We stopped presents last year We just have a meal we both enjoy, because we are not keen on Christmas dinners. My son and wife go down to the beach with a picnic. We get together with them during the Christmas period with a casual buffet lunch. I so enjoy ignoring Christmas. Roll on January and snowdrops.

Funnily enough, I was reading an article the other day about people already panic buying turkeys blah blah blah, and someone replied “good!! That’s made my mind up for me!!” She then went on to explain that she often said to her husband why did she spend half Xmas day in the kitchen cooking this gargantuan meal that most of the kids didn’t eat for a start, and the amount of washing up was absolutely horrendous. So this year - she’s doing a buffet!! Just laying the table out with various cheeses, biscuits, breads, nibbles, mince pies etc, and everyone can just help themselves whenever they want, and as often as they want, and I thought hmmmmmm, you’ve almost persuaded me to do the same lol!!!
Christmas to me is casual shopping in November for gifts , put a stop to it November 30th, causally get freezer stuff such as raspberry roulade, lemon cheesecake , Turkey crown , no mad dash for anything as most of it will be done online anyway , between Christmas and NY we’ll rent a cottage for the 5 of us up in rural Northumberland for 5/6 nights, New Year’s Eve will be spent just the two of us ordering a Chinese’s meal and either listen to classical music or watch tv if there’s anything worth watching
Barrel, Obviously we did the whole Christmas thing when our son was a child and loved doing it. Then as he grew up and our parents were no more, it just became a chore and stressed me out. We realised that the stress wasn't worth it. Son and wife feel the same and like long walks and a beach picnic far more than Christmas.
stuff. I might feel different if Christmas was still as it used to be and only started
In December? Now it seems to be three months of the year and it is just spend, spend, spend!
