I used to be one years ago, can't say that the info I give is still current, but here goes. You have to pay for your catalogues and if you want to be able to sell a lot then obviously you need quite a lot of catalogues, if you put them through people's doors, there is no guarantee you will get them back. When I left they were introducing a minimum order value, which meant that if you didn't reach that value you either couldn't place an order that month thereby letting your customers down or making up the order to reach the minimum leaving you out of pocket until you can sell on those spare products. I found that for the little I was making it was very time consuming. I would deliver the catalogues, collect the catalogues sometimes having to call back more than once and then deal with the orders, if any, and then have to check the order once it arrived and then go back to deliver the goods to the customers. I know there are people making a good living out of it, maybe I 'm just not suited to sales, but I certainly wouldn't do it again.
My neighbour does it and says it's a nightmare because Avon are so inefficient. They get an order wrong or forget to send one of the items almost every time. My friend seems to spend most of her life chasing them up for very little reward. She also ends up with a lot of people then cancelling their order because they had ordered the items for holidays or a birthday present.
i done it about a mmonth ago it is murder because u dont get to pic where u do it and i t myt be far away and no 1 is in and u have 2 go bck and u have 2 pay for your own books wich loses u money but i got about a tnner a week tht was from 60 doors hope this helps xxx

I' m an Avonlady and I like it .I have been selling for 5 years and yes they do have the shortages.I have understanding customers that know that it isn't my fault and that I will bring it when it comes.Avon also tells us beforehand what might be a short so you can warn your customer they order it.There is no certain amount that you have to sell unless you are in Leadership. They want you to sell at least $250 if you are in Leadership(signing people to sell Avon). The money is good if you take your time and build up your customer base.
