apparently Blair's popularity for the EU's presidency is said to be diminishing , does that mean that the rest of us could be considered as possibles if we chose to apply..Could fancy that lifestyle I think.

its all about power isnit. i can't stand the bloke and his ego certainly doesn't need it but perhaps we should not lie back and think of england ? (hopefully blair wouldn't either, but thats by the by)

in previous years the presidency was held by rotatios, our last turn was in 2007 with jack straw, where we held it jointly with luxembourg. remember it ? no thought not. anyhow, nowadays they have made a trio presidency where 3 member countries hold the office of presidency. our next turn is scheduled for 2017 !!!!

now, i am not anti-european nor nuffink, but that seems a long time to have our fingers out of the pie.

with the presidency i am convinced that i would make a good president, provided that reasonable disbursements and expenses were fully paid, free international travel, holidays 10 times a year and my family could be employed as my support staff fo millions of pounds. does that sound unreasonable?
Why does Europe need a president, have we had one before, are we turning into America!!

Just the life style I was thinking of -Ankou, not bad .!

And , yes probably, netibiza.
I think there are some more profitable posts you could apply for.

Head of Microsoft perhaps

But then the fantasy of the reward without the qualifications, need or ability to do the job is always a popular fantasy.

Do you even know what the job entails?
I wouldn't mind a go at being the President of '' The United States of Europe ''.
1997....

"Hello, I am prime minister now. if I sign away all our rights and let everyone in our country, can I be President"?
"Oui Monsieur Blair".

I do know roughly what the job entails thank you jake- the- peg.I would have no hesitation in calling on you for further info should I get on the shortlist for the position.Brenda.
i should think it involves sitting in meetings drinking tea with biscuits, setting agenda, keeping minutes, making sure the right people attend the meeting and that they start and finish on time. between meetings you are probably writing minutes and writing agendas and snding meeting requests through outlook and then chasing people up to do their actions for the next meeting, and then chairing meetings.

i think the job involves a lot of meetings, some international travel (free), drinking tea, plenty of free holidays to cope with the meetings, a team of admin staff appointed on the basis of nepotism to type the minutes, make the tea and ensure that your holiday intinerarys are full.

i could still do it
