Is that normal or acceptable? What are his intentions? Would most women mind if their boyfriend did that?

No one can determine his intentions.  As to whether it is normal or acceptable, the context is everything.

If it were me and my husband did that, I would not be in the least bit bothered.

Depends on how secure the women feels in her relationship.

Would not bother me one bit.

as BM says, context is all

If it's your doctor he sounds a bit unprofessional to me.

'What are his intentions?' - are you sure he has any?

Is he your doctor??

smurfchops there was a previous thread from the OP about her doctor.

Hi Rosie, just wondered if she was asking about the doctor or someone else.

Depends on how it was said. Should people be barred from being truthful ?  If it upsets you then discuss it with your other.

The OP said in a previous thread that her doctor told her she was beautiful.

Just spoken to most women and they confirm they wouldn't mind.

I'd mind

You can be one of the few then, Prudie.

What if it was the other way round, the woman in relationship saying to another man how handsome he is?

I'm with Prudie on this one..

If it was my doctor/lawyer/accountant saying this to me, I should mind very much indeed.  That professional is employed to give me professional advice and not to flirt.  Indeed, if any professional I employed behaved like this, I would a) explain his/her behaviour was unacceptable and b) find an alternative.  I would NEVER EVER make such personal remarks to a client.

But we have no information or context, so who know?!

Oh and my husband would not care one jot if I said that to another man.  He knows I'm his.  I regularly go out with one of my ex bf's to something we both enjoy (not shared by Mr BM).  Mr BM knows him, likes him but knows he is ex for a reason.  We have absolute trust.

If the ex Mr pasta said that, yes I'd be questioning it...to myself. Only because he never  paid anyone compliments.

If he was a normal, maybe a bit of a flirty man, I'd not care.

'Man in relationship' may not be a doctor or whatever.

In fact I'd even venture that 'he's' imaginary.

He's up to no good.

"You're beautiful lass, but not as beautiful as my wife"

So what's wrong with that ?
