We think that after the roaring success in eliminating the supply and use of illegal drugs tobacco should be even easier. 🙄

Totally agree, horrible stinky habit

Apologies for the digression but I cannot help thinking TORATORATORA's current avatar is lacking a knotted, white hankie...

I'm not 'we', I'm just me, but no.  It's nannying and it's intrusive.

Good idea, but I doubt it will work.

P.S. I thought the Tories stood for less state interference.

Banning smoking will be a hard job to do, but fining people for not turning up for a NHS appointment is very sensible, and probably overdue.

Nah   he will make his usual Tory U  Turn . Sunak and the Tory Party won't be around for the next generation. The kids will be reading about them in their history books and asking their grandparents .

Grandad ..Who were the Tory Party.

TCL  11 32 I Hadn't noticed TTTs avatar. Maybe if he had have worn his white builders helmet and high vis jacket ??

Naomi; "It's nannying and intrusive." Totally agree. What next? 2 pints per day? 2 cream cakes per week. Only allowed one trip out in your gas-guzzler?

I can't remember the last time I saw anyone smoking, even at the hospital doors

ken...outside most doors to most things, knee deep in their detritus, why are they incapable of using a bin?

I cannot mind on recently seeing folk hanging round entrances and smoking

Oh, come on TTT, when you last knee deep in cigarette butts?

Apologies of course if you have exceptionally short Tibia and Fibula.

I can remember having some Japanese visitors to our labs when I was working. One of them asked how long we had a problem with prostitutes. It  turns out they were talking about the office girls standing outside smoking.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea.

12:30, it's hyperbole vulcan. There is always a load of mess around doorways, usually next to a bin. I just don't get what smokers have against bins.

Electrochem, when I was at Barclays we had some Chinese banking guys visit us for some fact finding purpose or other. In the office one morning one of them casually got out a cigarette and lit it and then thought we were joking when we said you can't smoke in the office!

I suppose it could be worse outside of hospitals.

my grandson was very premature and delivered at a hospital around 40 miles from us as the local neo natal units were full, when we visited it was common place to see a police van pull up and get its passenger out  in handcuffs to visit the girl he'd impregnated after she'd given birth as well as the smokers who stood with their drips

Question Author

I've seen them outside hospitals with an oxygen mask in one hand and a fag in the other! How very sad these poor addicts are.
